Can I interview a therapist before deciding?

Due to time constraints, we are unable to offer specific time for this type of interview. The first session is usually considered an interview for you to judge if you feel comfortable with the provider and for the provider to assess if they can provide you the care needed.  We are committed to helping you find the right therapist.

How long are therapy sessions?

Psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes in length.

What kind of clients do you see?

We have four clinicians in our practice with an extensive amount of experience and training in working with clients across the lifespan and with most diagnoses.  We see individuals, couples and families.

Is this covered by my insurance?

In order for insurance to cover counseling services, you must have an evaluation that documents a clinical diagnosis.  With a clinical diagnosis, most insurance plans do cover mental health counseling.

Do you accept insurance?

We do participate with Medicaid and most Maryland private insurance including Care First/Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna, Integra and some employee assistance programs.  Please call your insurance company if you want to confirm a provider is credentialed with your plan.

How much does therapy cost?

If you are using your health insurance, your out of pocket costs vary from plan to plan. We will work hard to notify you what the expected costs will be in terms of per session. Some people have standard co-pays and some people, especially those with high deductibles, will have to pay for the full session.

How do I know what my specific plan covers?

As a courtesy, we obtain your insurance and call your plan to find out this information and relay that to you. Please be aware we are giving you the best information we have, but sometimes when claims are submitted, your portion could potentially be smaller or larger than anticipated. You can call your insurance company directly to find out these specifics.

Is payment required at time of visit?

Yes.  As stated above, as a courtesy we will tell you your estimated cost and expect to collect that at the time of the visit. When insurance has been billed and payment received we will adjust your balance accordingly.

What kind of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks and credit cards. Note that if a personal check is returned it will include a $25 service charge.
